Here’s a simple granola recipe that is easy to make in four simple steps. First, combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Second, combine wet ingredients and whisk well. Third, combine all ingredients and mix well until everything is well coated. Then, bake for 35 minutes and that’s it. I have another trick that makes this granola taste like cereal.

Take a look at the ingredients, you might already have everything. Start with the basics which are oats, some nuts, and dried fruits then mix with maple syrup and oil to give you that crunchy flavor.
I go back and forth on which oats to use, for this picture I used whole rolled oats. You can also use quaker old fashioned oats or quick oats for this recipe.
Whole grain oats provide a good source of soluble fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals such as potassium, and folic acid.
They are easy to make at home and it’s one of the first foods I taught my children to make for their breakfast. Mix some oats with either water or milk to make oatmeal, and add some fruits. How simple is that!

The oil can be substituted with coconut oil but slightly melt the coconut oil first.
The chocolate chips are key in this granola recipe. Add a little more chocolate chips if you like.
4 Easy Steps to make granola
Step 1: Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl.
Step 2: Combine all wet ingredients in a separate bowl and whisk.
Step 3: Combine all ingredients together and mix well.
Step 4: Bake for 35 minutes.

The trick to make granola taste like cereal
I have made granola in a flat baking pan but it makes granola drier and it makes it hard to chew like a granola bar. If you prefer granola that tastes moist and crunchy like cereal, bake it in a deep dish pan to reduce the cooked surface of granola all over.
Place the mixture in a deep dish pan (on a greased parchment paper) and not a flat baking pan. Baking it in a smaller pan helps keep the granola and the chocolate chips moist and not too dry. Also, there is no need to add raisins in the middle of baking, they will stay soft with this process.

The number of ingredients in this recipe fits perfectly in an 8-inch square baking pan. This same baking pan fits in my Breville toaster oven, so there’s no need to turn on the main oven for this recipe.
The fourth step is to bake for 35 minutes. You can eat it right away or store for later. I keep a jar of homemade granola on the counter so the kids can serve themselves for breakfast. They love it and I am sure your family will love it too. I can’t keep enough because they like to grab a handful of crunchy granola every once in a while.

This is a simple granola recipe that you will go back for more and more. Adjust and add more or fewer ingredients as you like.
Sprinkle granola on top of yogurt breakfast bowls, ice cream, or eat it as cereal with milk.

Here’s granola with plain Greek yogurt. It will be crispy and crunchy for a week if it really lasts that long.
